Album Review

To introduce ACE FREHLEY to any human specimen who ever listened to more than one guitar riff should not be necessary. But hey a little information about the space ace should be in order. The spaceman was born uncounted light years ago, spent his youth in the Bronx almost joined the Ducky Gang (google is your friend) started playing guitar and joined the greatest band in the world (KISS). Ace was never a friend of the way the KISS Empire was lead because he felt that music was not the most important part about the band but rather making shitloads of money. He played in kiss from 73 to 82 at which point he started a solo career. He again joined KISS in 1996 and stayed until 2002. He released 10 albums in his solo career, the latest one is called ‘Space Invader’ and I am listening to this record right about now.

To be honest, Ace was never a good singer because half of the lines he is speaking not singing. Once accustomed to that fact I come to realize that the music is not bad at all. I mean by no way that this is a great record (sorry Ace) most of it is very exchangeable and has been made better by other bands. The thing that bugs me is not the instrumental conversion itself or the sound per se, no I really dig great singers and on this record I hear none. Another thing that bugs me enormously is that this record has no visible line-up mentioned because of that you only get the live line-up in this review. Next time spaceman, make it like SLASH and get someone for your records who actually can sing.
