Album Review

Founded back in 1980, EXODUS easily rank among America’s well-known and established Thrash Metal bands. Despite several line-up changes and hiatuses, the band will release its tenth studio record ‘Blood In, Blood Out’ this October via Nuclear Blast Records. The opener ‘Black 13’ commences the album with a mixture of energetic and grooving parts, which sound characteristically EXODUS, the following title track ‘Blood In Blood Out’ continues as a fast and shredding Thrash Metal title. Alongside a strong focus on the harsh vocals, a tendency for incorporating technical means like guitar solos can be observed as well. The production, however, at times sounds rather too sterile and flat. Although ‘Blood In, Blood Out’ offers some solid and straight-forward tracks, as ‘Collateral Damage’ or ‘Wrapped In The Arms Of Rage’, the album is ‘more of the same’ and forms a logical continuation and connection to previous works. Whilst this may please die-hard fans of the band, others might rather stick to the band’s early albums.
