AVATARIUM were founded in 2013 by, among others, Leif Edling (CANDLEMASS). The band also features members of bands like TIAMAT and JUPITER SOCIETY. AVATARIUM plays a mixture of Doom Metal and Hard Rock, with fantasizing and fanciful lyrics. After their first, self-released album in 2013, the band also releases an EP titled ‘All I Want’ which features two new songs as well as three songs taken from ‘Avatarium’.
The first track of the EP, ‘All I Want’, offers a rather straight-forward Doom/ Hard Rock song, characterized by Jennie-Ann Smith’s remarkable and emotional vocals. ‘Deep Well’, in contrast, is slower and includes a fair amount of technical guitar solos. The remainder of the album are three live-recorded and performed songs, which were already included on ‘Avatarium’. While it is surely nice of having high quality live recordings of one’s favourite band, it is not necessarily an essential gimmick for an EP, since one or two more previously unreleased songs would have done the concept good.
