Album Review

DOMINA NOCTIS a gothic band with a gothic style and gothic mind with an attitude attached. ‘Second Rose’ is the second LP in the making including 10-tracks of heart pulsing guitar riffing action with ground-breaking solos with amazing vocals to match. Opening up the album is ‘Electric Dragonfly’ sending the electronic sound waves merging with the reminding 9-tracks but this opener shows the mellow guitar roaring solos with combining vocals to mix up the music flow having it gear into overdrive bringing out a similarity of NIGHTWISH to mind.

Then we get thrown with ‘Because the Night’, a more upbeat track that keeps the music energy going even more than the opening tune. The drumming action is sharp and fast going right along with the guitar work allowing the vocals to easily float right alongside. One other stand-out tune has to be ‘Broken Flower’, a more in depth song that shows a softer side of DOMINA NOCTIS letting the vocals craft themselves piece by piece as the guitars have been toned down and then slowly pick up the pace beat by beat. The instrumental work that is shown throughout this album is done well capturing the absolute essence well in each note played. Showing the sights and sounds of the music in every possible way; what stands out the most have to be the vocal work performed, their clear as a bell and really piece together the music completing it as a whole rather by picking it up like a shattered puzzle.

‘Second Rose’ is a wrap up collection of tunes that should capture and set the scene perfectly no matter what song begins to play. Fans of NIGHTWISH, WITHIN TEMPTATION and SHAKRA will find a rather remembrance and catch a liking instantly adding this gothic masterpiece to their already dominate collection of tunes.
