Album Review

There are not many words to make about the Australian rock superstars of AC/DC. Within their long-lasting career, spanning more than 3 decades these guys have achieved everything you can achieve as a band and if they come to town for a tour in Germany or elsewhere, people go, quite rightly, crazy and pay shitloads of money for the tickets. But it's value for money I guess. Those guys now are about to release the soundtrack to the much anticipated action sequel 'Iron Man 2'

15 tracks out of 10 album have been picked to make the disc and those are not just any tracks, they're some of the best and famous songs AC/DC have produced. The album starts properly with 'Shoot To Thrill', going to make you do the heavy dance with its insisting riffs and rhythms that stimulate the nerves. An almost vintage classic picks up from there with 'Rock'N'Roll Damnation, featuring original and unfortunately deceased singer Bon Scott, having a slight soul vibe resonating within his timbre which will be getting lots of more space to move us in the further course of the album. But first it's time for the pervasive organ of Brian Johnson again on 'Guns For Hire', starting from seemingly random chopped chords, slowly coming together and forming an irresistible rhythmic riff to which the drums contribute just the right accentuation to make it nest in your head for a long time to come.

The erratically and impressively executed riff melody of Angus Young introduces to the next track 'Thunderstruck' while the track keeps building up more and more to create a constant tension that's keeping the listeners on their toes. It's obvious that 'T.N.T'' descends from an era long gone but its infectious groove and Bon's vocals let you forget the comparatively bad sound quality of the track soon. 'Let There Be Rock' fires away like a racing train right from the start, rolls you over with the fuzzy strokes, and the deep bass mumblings rattle the ground beneath you. With 'War Machine' there comes a little track from the band's latest album 'Black Ice'. Perfect title to fit the movie by the way! The band's most famous track ever 'Highway To Hell' brings the album to a close and I've not a single doubt all the guys in front of their stereos start to rock and shout along latest with the chorus. Well, what can I say? It's, as mentioned above, some of the best material they've ever recorded, and new fans should take the chance to grab a copy for an overview. However I'm not so sure about the use of this for die-hards.
