Founded in 2008, it was soon very obvious that ALIN COEN BAND would be one of the most promising music acts in Germany. They just released their debut ‘Wer bist Du?’, a pure and fine, cautious, almost fragile voice meets meagre, jazzy compositions put a fine point on the atmosphere. It’s the perfect musical realization of the own growing feelings due to intelligent lyrics…
ALIN COEN BAND succeed in creating the perfect symbiosis of music, lyrics and emotions without being cheesy! Although it’s quite confusing listening alternate to German and English songs for the first time, in my opinion this matter of fact marks the originality of this band. Why should one be attached to one language when it’s easier to express yourself in the perfect fitting language? Solely because major labels dictate their way as the only right thing, it’s not a dogma… Maybe that could be the reason for releasing their album on their own label Pflanz Deinen Baum.
‘Wer bist Du?’ is not the typical independent release. It’s a jazzy release with a light touch of pop shining through. Fans of Katie Melua or maybe Marit Larsen should not hesitate to buy this album, but other listeners should think about it as well… there will be a lot of Sunday mornings or sunny days ‘Wer bist Du?’ could be a perfect soundtrack for... ;)
