Album Review

Welcome to the late 80´s and the early 90´s! With their debut ‘Square Moon’, DER KLINKE revives an era of a lot of outstanding electro acts during that time. Cold Electro is not dead yet. The songs on ‘Square Moon’ are well balanced and the composing leaves the mark of being inspired by the old school stuff mentioned above. I’m pretty sure that some songs will make their way in club and are quite able to fill the dance floors. Especially the songs ‘You‘, ‘Surrender‘ and ‘The Voice‘ which are a collaboration with the jazz singer and former member of DER KLINKE, Melissa Vanderville. Another special appearance is made by CUVG from the Belgian band THE ARCH on the track ‘Where it ends’ which sounds pretty interesting. All in all, ‘Square Moon’ is a solid debut release by a band that has the capability to develop their own niche in a genre that is worth to listen to over the years - but referring to old school bands always is a good chance to find your own way, right?
