Album Review
The new release of German electronic formation EISENFUNK intrigues already from the very beginning with its orotund and cheerful intro clearly entitled ‘Introludium’. However the next composition isn’t the sort of thing one expect to hear after such an opening: a measured solid electronic stream is periodically supplemented with words coming from nowhere and vanishing in the sonic waves which are getting more powerful every second, flowing to the following song. But this time the music is amplified by the vocals so the piece has enough potential to impress listeners. Actually the material on the album turned to be quite light and at the same time vigorous with diverse rhythms and accessible delivery.
Maybe the only shortcoming could be the length of the songs and a little bit of monotony just sometimes yet it doesn’t prevent you from getting the whole idea of the composition and enjoying them to the full. ‘Traditional’ seems to start the second part of the album reminding the intro. It gives an opportunity to come to oneself after a furious sonic attack and prepare one’s mind to the next dose of such music which begins with ‘Taiko’ (Drum), an interesting song that really calls up associations with Japanese drums. ‘Jericho’ in its turn is a strong and atmospheric track fully proving its title. Among the other compositions I’d like to mark out are ‘Funk'n Base’ and ‘Jinglefunk’. In whole the album is good enough and will definitely interest fans of the style.
