Diary of Dreams

Since 1989, DIARY OF DREAMS enchants a still growing fan base all over the world with beautiful and at times fragile tunes. Already 1.5 years after 'Nekrolog 43', the latest album '(if)' was released on 13th March 2009. In October 2009, the 'King of Nowhere' MCD including a brand new video clip has been released. In early 2010, the band was supporting UNHEILIG on their "Große Freiheit" tour. As a vanguard to the upcoming new album 'Ego:X' the track 'Echo in Me' was released digitally with the fans being able to choose what they'd like to pay for the download. 'Ego:X' has been released at the end of August 2011. DIARY OF DREAMS is Adrian Hates (vocals), Gaun:a (guitar), Flex (guitar) and Dejan (drums) supported this time on keyboards by Mauri of STONED AGE. http://www.diaryofdreams.de / http://www.myspace.com/diaryofdreams

Music & Performance
First show of the German tour and no support band planned. Best settings for a joyful concert evening. First bummer: the little club stage the show was taking place at. The room later actually became equivalent to a Finnish Sauna. But the following show almost evened the score for most of the people I guess. Starting with the introduction to the new album 'Ego:X', the show kicked off with a rockier 'Menschfeind' with best sound and a band that obviously had saved up a lot of energy for a long and sweaty evening. 'Undividable' follows up next and it had me wishing the energy of the live versions would've worn off a little more on the studio version which I think lacks a little punch. But I couldn't complain about too little punch afterwards with a new and improved 'She' that profited a lot from the live treatment. The audience went along with it anyways. Following 'Lebenslang', well-known 'The Wedding' was lauded when started and taken as a welcome opportunity to do waltz-like dancing as far as dancing goes within the packed place of course.

The band took a little trip back to 'Nigredo' with Reign of Chaos' where you couldn't really complain about alack of action on stage, and the chemistry between Gaun:A and Adrian once more proved to be a special one. Long time no see my fried the poison room. 'Giftraum' kicked some asses, really just like the guy who was completely freaking out about something and surely was close to doing that literally. I do admit that I never could see what some people saw in 'Cholymelan', but 'False Affection False Creation' in 2011really does sound stunning, especially with the live set of instruments. Afterwards it was time for a premier with most of the personnel and band members leaving the stage for 'Colors of Grey', one track that solely focused on Adrian's performance, going down in blue lights supporting the blue mood the song's harbouring. A song that's rarely been played live, at least I can't remember ever hearing it, is 'Son of a Thief', surely one of the highlights of 'Nekrolog 43' and of the live show as well. It's about time for a new live record with all this rearranged stuff.

'Wahn:Sinn' had the people shake their heads and 'King of Nowhere' met with many happy faces , including mine. 'Butterfly: Dance' ended the main set with a bang. Certainly not the end of the show, adding three more encore blocks including such crowd pleasers as 'The Curse', 'Kindrom' and last but not least 'Traumtänzer' as icing on the cake'. DIARY OF DREAMS set the bars high for the rest of the tour with the show definitely and put up one hell of a show for their fans.
