Album Review
I AM HERESY is a band formed by members of BOY SETS FIRE, THE DEAD AND GONE and CHAMBERS. It is not a project it is a full band. Band founder and vocalist Nathan Grey plays together with his son Simon Gray, I think it’s fantastic when father and son have such a cool unity. This year they release their second album. Again I jump over my old-school shadow and write a review for a Metalcore group.
Unholy shit, this Album kicks ass. Aggressive, melodic, dark metal. 15 very diversified songs, sometimes the vocals are Power Metal, sometimes Death Metal, sometimes Hardcore shouts. Nathan Grey takes it all with perfection. The three guitars doing their best to support the brilliant vocalist and create fantastic, melancholic and driving melodies. The varied songs invite to listen to them again and again.
Very cool is the minimalistic song ‘Alarm’ - acoustic guitar and clean vocals. The track ‘Seven Wolves And The Daughters Of Apocalypse’ brings parts that remind me in something I would categorise as “Rock-opera”. The whole album shows a complex work with many influences and the ability to unite them into a round piece of music. The lyrics show a concept of the fear constructs of the ones in control and the possibility of the individual to rise above this. It is a above the level when the lyrics are only there to have something to do for the vocalist, deep minded confrontation with thoughts and attitudes.
Finally I have to say: listen to it! The albums is available on CD and LP (vinyl rules) and as CD DIGI coming with three bonus tracks.
