There’s not much information available on the net about the project. It has been founded in the mid 90s after the former band of the two brothers Trevosky and Tcheleskov Ivanovitch was put on ice in 1994.
‘In Sedens’ presents, besides a couple of original songs, only remixes of songs from the project. As there are partly so many variations of the same track I will only pick up one or two of them, otherwise it would get a little bit confusing. I think it’s best if we start with the new material which would be ‘The Enemy’ for starters, where a stoic stomping beat sets the beat and floatingly warped vocals, seemingly having no feeling at all. ‘Open Source’ is even faster with a simple thumping beat and the vocals appear as a robotic demanding order. Two of the remixes to the title track, really impressed me. The ‘Skoyz Remix’ creates a fluid melancholic network of laid-back beat work merging it with rich ambience. Less reluctant are the beats in the NEON CAGE EXPERIMENT remix of ‘In Sedens’ where they actually take on the lead with a consisting urge to point out their complexity as a compressed array of glitched cymbals is thrown against them. Another great remix from a French man comes with ‘Raving Mad’ reworked by brain leisure. Where the sinister set of chorals and pads is covering almost everything around with its hopelessness, the emerging strength of hard electronic rhythms teaming up with the driving effect of percussive arpeggios establish a front striving against it – and detached from all the events underneath Dominique’s voice is appearing with a slight touch of distortion.
Following the path of Old School electronics is the Ionic Vision Remix of ‘God is dead’. Minimalist beats and sequencer lines with an irresistible rhythmic bent get formed by the monotonous bashing of what resembles a hammer rushing against a metal block. Even more mechanic appears ‘Horror’ which is showing a slight shade of orchestral melodiosity amidst a cohesive construction of Old school beats and the dead-hearted voice o f a robot. Another interesting approach is ‘Density’ remixed by LAST INFLUENCE OF BRAIN beginning very slowly and moving towards a never changing arpeggio of cold thumping beats with no melodic element. The DATACODE DIVISION create their own apocalyptic vision with their version of ‘Electro Troop’. Fierce salvoes of fuzzy rhythm crack the ground under a sky of casually appearing sleek creepy textures. DISHARMONY transported ‘Mutant X’ into another dimension with an analogue synth melody, shimmering in the dark and gloomy ambient textures are drawing close, just to vanish in the background again. Something’s clicking and then we get torn out of this deceptive calm by massive, echoing beats, bound together with distorted percussions and last but not least BAK XII turns ‘In Sedens’ into a massive club hit with the usual ingredients like distorted pummelling beats and lots of strings.
A bunch of those remixes sound as if they’ve been created sometime in the early 90s and don’t bear witness of a good production quality, but apart from these faults, a lot effort has gone into the creation of the remixes, even though one surely won’t like every single one, they have to acknowledge that at least and the original material always has a decent quality and for admirers of Old School EBM styles its just the right thing.
