Album Review

THE FALLACY is a Chilean band, founded in 2007 after the end of CAPITAL. After several line-up changes, the release of their debut album ‘The Fallacy’, THE FALLACY are now working on their second record and preparing for live shows. ‘Black Magic’ opens up with a nice keyboard melody and a duet between the two voices - a nice combination, Angeline is endued with a not too high voice, whilst Marco’s voice is rather deep. In general, the song is constructed with a rather average tempo. ‘Zeus Lessons’ consists of a tersely guitar riff at the beginning and the habitual vocal duet, although some parts of the singing appear really inharmonious. In ‘Neptune & the Girl’, Marco presents his really uncommon voice at the beginning and in several parts. The end also comes up with small technical details.

The fourth song, ‘Last Repenting Soul’ starts a bit faster than its forerunners and definitely has more drive. The rest of the album continues in that manner: more or less gothic-rock orientated middle fast songs, one time with Marco in the focus of the song, then again with Angeline. Surely, there are some nice melodic elements in it, the musical realisation is quite good and also the idea of having two opposed singers is not new, but effective. Genre-loving people might give this album a try since it is also available as a free download, but for me, this album is too repetitive, too less self-contained and there are too many notes missed.
