Album Review

Keeping the spiritual rapture of the melodic power of speed metal alive and well, French go getters HEAVENLY have tossed out ‘Carpe Diem’, their fifth album to date, with surprising results. Three years have passed since ‘Virus’ stuck its deadly disease deep underneath our skin with ‘Spill Blood on Fire’. Now that era is behind us. ‘Carpe Diem’ is upon us and the highlights that speculate this time around are surprisingly the title tracks ‘Lost In Your Eyes’ and ‘Full Moon’.

When it comes to the title track, it’s jam-packed with sizzling guitars, outstanding vocals with different sounding keyboards that make the music pop. The keys tend to inject a sense of progressiveness within the music. It leaves you in a graze of happiness. ‘Lost In Your Eyes’ is a secure piece with an absolutely mind blowing chorus that has that sing-along chorus lines with catchy overrun guitar twists, that simply spiral out of control. The balance between the metal and melody itself is superb; having sounded just the perfect amount of mixture built within the music making it that more enjoyment. Some like these are a remainder as to why you fell in love with the sounds and styles of what power metal can really do. There are those handfuls of tunes that don't quite keep up with the quality of the rest, such as ‘Full Moon’, which offers a little more innovation of uniqueness that lacks the quality completely off guard.

Not really expressing much of the musical quality at all by the sounds of it. HEAVENLY manages to maintain their usual power metal momentum that continues to lash out again and again when the music is persistent enough. Be sure to keep a well round look-out of top notch quality when it comes to the follow-up later on down the line.
