Album Review

Somehow it seems to be that there’s a whole wave of 80´s revival these days. GENETIKS are no exception. These three guys, signed by Danse Macabre, apply oneself to the Post-Punk era of Neue Deutsche Welle. So, ‘Schwarzbuch Deutscher Postpunk’ contains 36 minutes of 80´s orientated songs with quite funny play on words and some intelligent lyrics. Of course, a lot of old, brilliant bands like IDEAL, DAF or JOACHIM WITT are brought to your mind again. Aye, there’s the rub…! Because in my opinion, I’d prefer the original bands - music I grew up to and that really cannot be reproduced on the same ground. I can imagine that “younger” listeners are really into that stuff. But it doesn’t work for me - although I’d love to listen to the old companions… to everything there’s a season… Unfortunately mine seems to be over for this kind of stuff nowadays!
