Album Review
THE FALLACY is from Chile, they were formed in 2007 and now they have released their second album, ‘Beyond the Mist’. Bravo to them and here are the bad news. If someone had told me that the band had actually kidnapped the leading singer, Angie Bernini, and forced her to sing in front of a microphone I would have believed it. In the high notes her voice is quite good but in the lower ones she reminds of a soprano after 5 packages of cigarettes early in the morning trying to sing arias like Maria Callas. And that is not THAT Punk (or MOTÖRHEAD!) as it would like to sound. It is not surprising that the best song of the album is ‘The Meeting’ where she doesn’t have to sing and the second best is ‘Before We Leave’ where the other voices fall over her own.
As far it concerns the lyrics and especially the video of the ‘Circles of Misery’, I applaud their social concerns but how on earth can one show starving and half-dead children somewhere in Africa and at the same time to sing that “you don’t have to be a martyr to help, a little smile can be alright”? Guys, if that was true then Bozo the Clown would have won the Nobel Peace Prize. But since their sound is cool the only thing I must add is that if this band of fallacies wants to be a band of music they surely have to change the tone of their songs. One should listen to ‘Mechanic’ in order to understand that this band needs fine tuning...
