Album Review

FIGURE OF SIX comes from Italy and it is obviously inspired by Nu and Hardcore Metal. And now the good news are coming; the way they play is closely related with SLIPKNOT’s but their emphasis is given to a more melodic aspect of the songs without at the same time forgetting to sound hard and catchy. The specific combination is more than welcomed at least to my ears. Furthermore they play the songs with confidence which adds a certain allure to them. War-like drums are linked with soft synths and the voice of Scutti is always there without losing its aggressiveness, without retreating even when he goes to more “calm” notes. And that’s really cool. What is unexpected is the rawness of the songs, considering the fact that we’re talking about six musicians. I think that this was a very deliberate choice as they infuse a great depth to the songs and make them ready for a live concert. In this, their third release, I think that they are mature enough and ready to approach bigger audiences. Though if you ask me, I’m incapable to answer why they didn’t manage that with their previous album ‘Aion’...
