This year TELEKOM PLAYGROUNDS was the fifth one and ended with a big Boom. Around 5,000 people celebrated the 28 action sports professionals from all over the world and of course the gigs of three amazing bands: fiN, ZEBRAHEAD and INCUBUS. The winners of the day were Greg Lutzka (Skateboard) and Harry Main (BMX). The only 14 years old German youngster Jost Arens got the third place with his skateboard. Really amazing!

Incubus

INCUBUS was formed in 1991 and became famous as a cross-over band with many different styles. The latest album ‘If Not Now, When?’ is a comparatively quiet album and was released in July 2011, five years after ‘Light grenades’. Brendan O Brien produced this album and he is well-known as producer for Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam, AC/DC and Billy Talent. INCUBUS is Brandon Boyd (vocals, guitar, percussions), Mike Einziger (guitar, vocals), Jose Pasillas (drums, percussions), Chris Kilmore (Dj, keyboard) and Ben Kenney (E-bass, vocals). http://www.incubushq.com / https://www.facebook.com/incubus / http://www.enjoyincubus.com/

Music & Performance
The action from the ground jumps up onto the stage. In addition to FIN and ZEBRAHEAD gave INCUBUS an impressive live show! A really long show for an event like this! Indeed a full concert! Brandon and his band started with ‘Megalomaniac’. A large projection wall supported the acoustic experience with photos and graphics. The single ‘Adolescents’ from the new album picks up the formula of success which INCUBUS had with old songs: mixed styles, danceable, fast. It is with that almost the only song in old INCUBUS style. ‘Switchblade’ is a faster song, too. ‘If not know, when?’ and ‘Promises, Promises’ were single releases already and stay for the music of the new album: quiet, romantic and soulful. But their biggest hits were ballads. Not later than ‘Love hurts’, everybody at the audience was singing and dancing. They performed hits like ‘Drive’ or ‘Wish you were here’ as well.

The setlist was well balanced because fast, slow, new and old songs were mixed. A particular experience were the acoustic versions of the songs like ‘Tomorrows Food’ where only Brandon and Mike were sitting in front of the stage with an old microphone and a guitar. Brandon’s voice is clear and gentle. This moments were really magical. A wonderful evening!
