Großstadtgeflüster
On a Wednesday evening, on 11th February 2009, I took the occasion to enjoy GROSSSTADTGEFLÜSTER a second time at their current tour, this time in Münster. The band comes from Berlin and was formed in 2003 by Jen Bender and Raphael Schalz. Their debut album 'Muss laut sein' (Must be loud) was released in 2006 and included the independence hit 'Ich muss gar nix' which made the band well-known in the German independence scene. The current album called 'Bis einer heult' and was released at 30th May 2008. At our arriving at the location at half 9 pm the doors were still closed and we found out that the band will start the concert not until a quarter past ten, even though an earlier time was announced before. Anyway we used the time to take some drinks and came back later.
Music & Performance
The venue Amp is a small pretty location near the main station of Münster. The small audience area was well-filled and as the show began quickly the spirit went over to the crowd; the people were dancing and singing along and had a great time. The set was started withy the intro 'Ein guter Tag zum Weinen' which was performed with a kind of mime, followed by a diversified set of 18 songs taken from the both available albums. The temper climaxed at ‘Ich muss gar nix’ - the most known and successful song of the band.
Again GROSSSTADTGEFLÜSTER had rocked the crowd completely with their straight, vital and powerful performance. The show ran about 80 minutes inclusive an encore of two songs and after it GROSSSTADTGEFLÜSTER left the crowd happy and satisfied. On the small stage were arranged carpets, a sofa and some floor lamps which gave the stage an old fashioned, homelike atmosphere.
