Muffathalle, Munich, Germany
4th October 2010
Goldfrapp

On this last day of the Oktoberfest in Munich, I came along on the way to the Muffathalle to have a look at GOLDFRAPP. It was not complete chaotic, but nevertheless, some fans indeed came in traditional dirndl or lederhosen to the concert…

The British Synthpop duet GOLDFRAPP consists since 1999 of singer Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory (synthesizer). Up to now, they published 5 studio albums; their last one appeared in March, 2010 and is called ‘Head First’. GOLDFRAPP already won some prizes, wrote the music to the film ‘My Summer of Love’ and were support for DEPECHE MODE on their "Playing the angel" tour. http://www.goldfrapp.com/

Music & Performance
At 8:30 PM the show was scheduled to start, but there was no GOLDFRAPP and also no Merchandise. Merely the stage construction was assuming that still something had to come, nevertheless… Then one hour later it was finally time and GOLDFRAPP appeared on stage in whose background a silver object was built up which looked like a colossal loudspeaker. Alison carried a thread upper top which blew in the draught of the ventilator. The outfits of the band and the stage glittered and sparkled and reminded of the 70s. In the course of the concert, GOLDFRAPP played a good mixture of new and older songs and left no chance to settle down to the audience in the - not totally filled - Muffathallte. They played songs like ‘Crystalline Green’, ‘Head First’, catchy ‘Number 1’ as well as ‘Rocket’; the danceable ‘Ooh La La’ was one of many climaxes of the show.

Unfortunately, already after one hour including only one addition everything was over. All in all, it was still a nice evening but a little bit too short...
