Swiss band, LOST AREA, was founded in 2003, during which time they’ve released few singles, three albums, supported CRÜXSHADOWS and PROJECT PITCHFORK and some more bands. A blend of Goth, Electro, Rock and Pop is what you’ll find on their ‘Black Storm’ single that is leading up to the new album due out this year. The EP offers four different songs, so you won’t be listening to one or just two songs and their different takes in countless remixes. Strong, catchy melodies, pretty good to get you dancing and enjoy yourself, some melodramatic lyrics in 6AM and at times in the other songs too.
Though sound-wise there are some interesting details as for example the darker atmosphere in ‘Black Storm’, like the guitar detail in ‘Mask’, a song that reminds me of DEPECHE MODE. It has this open road, night time nostalgia kind of feeling. ‘Crashing Down’ is excellent with its clarity, catchiness, pure invitation to dance; the lyrics are bit more sober though still with some flare for exaggeration. Overall it’s nothing pioneering so if you’re looking for something groundbreaking, different and unusual - that won’t be found here but if you’re looking for something simply to enjoy listening to then it’s as good as any good release in this genre. It’s very listenable and of a good quality.
