Album Review

KASHMIR’s ‘E.A.R’ is their eighth studio album, an ambient and hypnotic offering from the Danish Alternative rockers. It’s slow progressive mood entrances and will no doubt meditate most listeners into a state of musical bliss. With sounds ranging from the likes of SIGUR ROS and RADIOHEAD, ‘E.A.R’ is more than likely to raise a few ears. ‘E.A.R’ is defined as ‘Eternally Amplified Restlessness’ - a beautifully poetic title that mirrors the aesthetic of the album. There are euphoric moments in the album, specifically the wonderful and euphoric ‘Seraphina’.

The uplifting synth-ridden ‘Purple Heart’ increases the album’s energy, ‘Trench’ is an instrumental piece that sounds like machines working overload in a Utopian underworld, the ambience and tones are what KASHMIR are good at, they can create pictures cohesively with their enigmatic soundscapes. The melodic ballad, ‘The Peace in The Heart’ resonates wonderfully, it yearns with an ethereal ache; all of the songs on this album create a finely crafted, multi-layered piece of work. ‘E.A.R’ will most certainly ring in the ears for some time afterwards, KASHMIR have created a profound listen that won’t be forgotten easily…
