Album Review

To proper start this review about every KISS fan`s wet dream I will not introduce a band with a reputation like KISS like I usually do with lesser known bands. The band is around since 41 years and they have released 20 studio albums over the last four decades (not to mention 10 live albums, 11 compilations, 4 EP`s and 58 Singles) to introduce this band to a rock music enjoying individual would be a joke… This band is legendary, epic, loud, colourful and they have shaped rock history with their look, image and business management (yes KISS is a band but they are a company too). This band is the reason I have a KISS Army logo on my right upper arm…

Okay enough of the introduction (dammit!!!) this best-of has it all from lesser known songs to demos of songs like ‘God of Thunder’ (awful version, I fully understand they changed the pace and the vocals) to live versions of beloved songs like ‘Unholy’, ‘Firehouse’ or the MTV Unplugged version of ‘Do you love me?’. There are a handful of songs that belie every KISS fan who always rants about their disco song ‘I was made for loving you’, if you hate that song for the disco sound listen to ‘You matter to me’ that is really, really 70`s disco.

There are really a few songs that as a KISS fan I have to say are not my cup of tea (there are reasons said songs are not among those everyone can sing-along with). But hey aside from my personal preference this is definitely something a hard-core KISS fan should own. The sound is state-of-the-art and if you have to have everything KISS ever did you will most likely treat this double cd with over 40 songs like a treasure.

PS: to newer fans of KISS I recommend the second half of the first CD and the whole second CD.
