Album Review

This German Industrial music band has an intense melodic Electronic Synth Pop / EBM style album with varied tracks. The title song is a great classical into to the entire album. ‘The Way to Oblivion’ is simply amazing with its melodic lyrics then slips into classic Industrial beats taking the listener into ‘The Effect’ going back to the melodic towards the end of the track. ‘Pop Corn’ has a real sense of humour, a really fun song. It truly sounds like you would imagine electro popcorn would sound like. Pop, Pop, Pop! Could also fit into a classic game promo. ‘Das Modul des Schreckens’ is very Gothic Industrial in its sound. Dark consciousness coming to the surface. ‘Hello Hello’ is also dark and Industrial but has that iconic twist of ironic humour with background sounds of classic synth gaming influences. ‘Ich Bau Dir Eine Pyramide’ is a synth fantasy sounding like a computer gaming program slipping again into the Industrial influence. ‘Friday Afternoon’ differs a bit from the other tunes, it runs a bit slower like an easy going Friday night out enjoying the company of friends.

‘Scharlatan’ is more typical of Industrial German bands with heavy hitting lyrics and in German. It seems to go back and forth from the Industrial to the dark melodic. ‘Der Drops Ist Gelutscht’ is purely Industrial with its deeply hitting beats. ‘Tanzmusik’ is a snazzy Industrial track with sounds from what sounds like a political speaker reciting a speech. ‘November’ slows down a bit and seems to flow in a translucent melodic way. ‘Vajont’ is interesting and uses what sounds like a harpsichord instrument in the background which seems influences by the classical but still has a modern sound to it. ‘Cortex Zero’, one of the title songs it darkly seductive with an inundating synth sound. ‘The Way To Oblivion (acoustic)’ is another version of the same song but it sounds more intense than the original. ‘Transformation’ is darkly inviting. ‘Love to Hate’ is exactly as the song suggests. ‘Dark Rave’ is an electro Industrial wonderland in the city.

They mix their music quite a bit with classic, Industrial, gaming samples, and melodic tracks. They seem to cover all bases on this album for those who like Hardcore Industrial and Gothic synth pop with a sprinkling of gaming sampling. One size fits all so they say and I think this album covers what synth lovers like the most.
