Review

01. Majestueuse – 4.30
This song has a fierce drum leading the rest of the electronics trough the track. In the background a female voice is singing in a sober voice, a lot of violin sounds are used in the first song, as well as bells. The atmosphere of the album reminds me of Encryption, very dark. It is more modern though.

02. Espoirs – 5.53
In this song you will hear Alea sing in a thin voice. Their native language is used quite a lot on this album. With a sole drum for rhythm, and several dark creations to fill the music, this song is so simplistic its very easy listening and it’s very appropriate to drown in. Near the end of the song the music will become stronger and the sounds will become more military. Lykkwasst will sing in a flow French tune his part. After the singeing is faded the music continues, until the instruments fall silent one by one.

03. Untitled – 5.19
With a darker elektro sound and more melody this song is more suited for dancing. Even though the overall sound it quite shy, underneath the elektro sounds there’s a dark atmosphere hidden in the tunes. The song seems a bit more aggressive then Espoirs, this mostly because of the different samples you hear in the music, they creep into the back of your head.

04. Novarch – 3.19
A slow intro with the feminine lyrics set the tone for this song. With this track the drums do not seem to be the most important part of the song. With sharper sounds and samples the song is a bit dreamy, Alea is singing in French again and is quite easy to understand this time.

05. Else – 4.33
With a stronger beat this song is very suitable to dance. The sounds aren’t as dark as they are on other parts of the album.

06. Errklass – 5.42
With the strong spiritual drums that lead this track, the neo-classical side of the band seems to pop up. The track is more compact and more predictable compared to the others. The lyrics are in French again. During the sounds the atmosphere varies a lot, because of the harder and aggressive sound and which sometimes will fade and create room for more spiritual and slower intermezzos.

07.  Sphere – 4.07
With a slow and creepy intro the song takes you to a dark place. You do not want to hear this when you happen to be at a graveyard in the middle of the night, alone I might add. Because there is hardly a rhythm or melody to be found in the song you are just supposed to listen, I think. After a few minutes the strong military drums shake you up, and they will be there for the rest of the track to accompany the different violins. Pure instrumental, this song had quite some impact.

08. Classartic – 7.11
another slower song, where violins and sharp electronic sounds are combines with a very nice rhythm, there are very quit intermezzos in the song that only break into a piano and different violin sounds. The combination of different samples reminds me of a modern version of the Danse Macabre. The second part of the song contains a fuller melody, and lifts up the long quite intermezzos.

09. Stuereva – 3.11
With military drums in the back and the high spherical synths the music is a bit spooky. The lyrics are sung in a more serious voice. The voice isn’t dreamy or really thin. It’s a bit stronger and more compact.

10.  Lounge – 6.25
Starts with a simple beat, and singing. During the song the feminine voice the beat continues all the way through the song.

11. Gloria – 3.40
The classical drums are back, as well as the bells. This gives the track immediately a certain extra. I quite like this, my mind eye sees some very slowly moving goth girls dancing to Gloria’s melody.

12. Wheire – 8.06
The last track on the album is also the longest one. It starts out with some minimalistic samples that together sounds like the rain in Micheal Jackons ‘Stranger in Moscow’ combined with a piano that sounds like a person with a obsessive compulsive disorder is playing it. This lasts a bit to long, but then the deeper bells and tunes came back in sight and give the track more body.

Conclusion

A various band, a band that is created by one person, who di exactly as he liked on the album. Lykkwasst and Alea have created such a nice piece of work that will do well especially at parties where a certain atmosphere is required. Besides this I also find it very relaxing to play at home, with a few candles on, and a good book. The album it worth trying, especially when you're into experimental music. The CD is available on their website for 6 euros. This song has a fierce drum leading the rest of the electronics trough the track. In the background a female voice is singing in a sober voice, a lot of violin sounds are used in the first song, as well as bells. The atmosphere of the album reminds me of Encryption, very dark.
