Leandra - Metamorphine

The first stop on that journey is ‘Noisy Awareness’ which is dominated by a stately piano melody and it is this piano, which LEANDRA plays since her infancy, which will play a major part in many of the compositions on ‘Metamorphine’. But first it’s time for ‘Lie to me’ that breaks out in a new direction wit subtly guitar sounds embedded into a braiding of synthetic strings and mystic sounds underlined with organic drum play. ‘The Art of Dreaming’ holds a special surprise for all the ZERAPHINE and DREADFUL SHADOWS as LEANDRA teams up with Sven Friedrich in this dreamy ballad in which also the piano comes to light again. Further on with ‘Coloured’ where the melodies fade into the background to let her voice fly over the electronic down-tempo beat followed by ‘Naked Eyes’ a clean trip hop track with a dark basic mood and slow rhythms. With ‘Angeldaemon’ follows a song LEANDRA already performed live on the acoustic tour with LETZTE INSTANZ in an entirely acoustic version played on the piano. In the studio version also different sounds shimmer through the air and a gentle electronic beat appears in the song as well.

‘Tyberi Folla’ is completely sung in a fantasy language and just in case you’re wondering, what the song is about. It’s about two spectral beings discussing the texture of the air. ‘Son of Venus / Danny’s Song’ seems to be a live recording and shows again how masterfully she plays the piano accompanied by strings. ‘Lullaby’ spreads a menacing mood right from the start but also displays a certain rock attitude with harsh guitar riffs contrasting the piano sounds and framed by diversified drumming. ‘Pi’ turns out to be a symbiosis. While the first part is dominated by the piano and her distinctive voice, there’s suddenly a break and the song transforms into a gloomy rock tune. The album concludes with ‘Inverted Mirrors of Decay’ a - in the true sense of the word - classical song with playful piano play and varied chant.
