Jorn Lande

Today’s Jorn Lande show was introduced as a very special clubshow with two drummers and surprising songs. As a big Lande fan reason enough hit the road to Belgium and check this show out….

After many years of developing as a singer and songwriter, touring with different bands and appearing as special guest on various albums, his first official recording was with Vagabond in 1993. During the past decade he has delivered more than twenty albums with different bands and projects and worked with great artists like Ronni Le Tekro, Yngwie Malmsteen, Micky Moody and Bernie Mardsen (Whitesnake), Joe Lynn Turner, Don Airey (Ozzy, Rainbow and Deep Purple), Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions). His most famous effort is his role as front man is German metal act Masterplan which has achieved great success around the world. During the last years he has established himself with his own band under the name "JORN" and has now finished his second album in classic hard rock style called "The Duke". Jorn is known for his diversity as a singer and has delivered some of the finest progressive rock/metal albums of the past decade, but has now returned to his roots of classic hard rock music.

Music

The lights of the venue were not even dimmed or Jorn Lande was already onstage starting off with the magnificent ‘We brought the angels down’ from the lastest album ‘The Duke’. Jorn (vocals) seemed completely ready to rock this night. After the first song he welcomed the audience and rocked on with ‘Blacksong’ and ‘Gonna find the sun’.  Jorn was amplified by a magnificent band of two guitar players, Jorn Viggo Lofstad and Tore Moren, a bass player, Sid Singsby, and two drummers for each set one. The first set existed off a lot of songs from Jorn’s latest album The Duke combined with a couple of older songs and a DIO cover.  The second set was a little heavier and contained a couple more cover songs than the first one and also songs of Jorn other and older bands like Materplan’s ‘Soulburn’. After two sets the band left the stage. The audience, Wednesday night or not, was still ready to rock and yelled Lande and his band back on stage. The screams and applause was joyfully received by them and with big smiles they appeared back onstage.  They closed the night with a cover medley of Whitesnake songs; Come On, Sweet Talker, Crying in the Rain, Here I Go again and Give me all your love. It was just magnificent to hear Jorn (vocals) sing those songs, because they suited his voice very well and he had now trouble singing the high parts.

Performance

It didn’t matter that it was just a Wednesday and the day after was just another workday; as well the audience as the band were in a great mood and ready to rock. The venue was not sold out, but greatly filled up and the ambiance was joyful. Jorn (vocals) proved himself to be a very interactive man; he made a lot of contact as well with the audience as his band. He took some time to answer a couple of questions and joked around with some fans. Jorn (vocals)  was visibly touched by the fact that still so many people took the time and effort to get to Belgium and thanked everybody for it.  The band picked up the ambiance from the start. There was a lot of interaction on stage between the bandmembers among echtother and the audience. The lightshow was not very spectacular, but it suited the show very well. A combination of dark yellow and red was used to give the show it’s atmospheric ambiance.
