Lord of the Lost & Rabia Sorda

Watching Germanys well-known dark rock band for the first time, I didn’t get disappointed when it came to charismatic guys, highly impressed girls in the audience and an entertaining show. Being supported by RABIA SORDA, which is a band project of HOCICO’s Erk Aicrag, the evening in Osnabrück turned out to be fun as hell.

Rabia Sorda

Hanging around at so many Electro festivals the past years, I do know who is RABIA SORDA, but do you? The band was founded in 2003 by HOCICO’s charismatic singer Erk Aicrag, played at M’era Luna this year and has a lot of fun to offer: may it be the energetic songs, a singer who is running and jumping so fast on stage your eyes cannot follow him or a guitar player who is not only talented but also eye candy for the girls in the audience. https://www.facebook.com/rabiasordaofficial / http://www.rabiasorda.com/

Music & Performance
I must admit that I was only going on that trip to Osnabrück to see RABIA SORDA as I love their music since a long time. I guess I was the only one waiting in line in front of Osnabrück’s Lagerhalle to see Erk and his band colleagues. When the band entered the stage you could feel their energy from the very first moment. Though a lot of people didn’t know them and were desperately waiting for Chris Harms and LORD OF THE LOST, Erk made them get their lazy asses up and dance and jump around or at least clapping their hands. There were a few people who were really going with the songs of RABIA SORDA and having a lot of fun while others have been still tired from a long Thursday work day. I really enjoyed what was going on on stage, whether it was ‘Out of control’, ‘Radio Paranoia’ or ‘Somewhere along the Road’ the last song which was played to heat the audience up. Thumbs up for RABIA SORDA!

Lord of the Lost

Waiting full of excitement to see LORD OF THE LOST for the first time in my life, I listened to the girls next to me talking about the band members, some stories of the concerts before and how much they like their music and the autograph sessions after the concerts. I never listened to such cute things while waiting for a band. Deep, deep fan love put in words and sparkling eyes made me want to know what the girls were talking about as I never understood why so many girls were listening to them. I always thought it was because of a handsome singer and guys with guitars, but I must admit that LORD OF THE LOST is much more than a cliché dark rock band with screaming female fans. https://www.facebook.com/lordofthelost / http://www.lordofthelost.de/

Music & Performance
Starting with some monk-like dressed guys bringing crosses on stage, a few seconds later all of the audience’s attention went to what was going on in front of them. From the very first second the band caught the attention of the audience not only with having a stunning appearance but also with hard rock sounds, combined with a few synthesizer lines. I must admit that I couldn’t keep my eyes away from singer Chris Harms who looked deeply suffering while singing a few of the songs. I’m still not sure this was part of the show or if he really soaked up the emotions of the song he was singing and really feeling it. I guess it was a bit of both. While watching what was going on on stage, turning my head to the left and to the right and seeing all those satisfied faces, one thought came to my mind “Well, this is how a rock show should work. 100 point to LORD OF THE LOST”.

I definitely enjoyed the bands interaction with the fans, when some people where shouting “ Get stripped” and Chris reacted with sarcastic comments or started joking around. Second fun part of that show was when Gared Dirge played his solo part and the audience started to chant along what he was playing. To me the most impressive thing was when RABIA SORDA got back on stage and Erk Aicrag joined Chris Harms singing ‘Marching into sunset’ and the two bands performed ‘La Bomba’ together. Though I’m not a fan of dark rock music, I must admit that LORD OF THE LOST deliver a perfect show and impressed me with their appearance on stage, their interaction with their fans and how perfect their show was. If you really want to see how a rock show should work, if you want to get wet by sweat or if you want to hear a really beautiful male voice – do me a favour, don’t waste your money on some bad Goth rock band, buy a ticket for LORD OF THE LOST.

Musikzentrum, Hannover, Germany
26th September 2014
Lord of the Lost & Rabia Sorda

Just to add: Caused by really wild circumstances, I went to see RABIA SORDA and LORD OF THE LOST the next day, 26th September,  in Hannover at Musikzentrum. Still being done by the evening before, not getting enough sleep, I found myself at Hannover, front row, watching RABIA SORDA once again. I really wish I wouldn’t have been that much tired, but as I had to drive from Osnabrück to Bochum caused by a friends doctor’s appointment and then from Bochum to Hannover I was slightly tired when watching an once again super energetic Erk Aicrag on stage. Of course the girls from the day before in Osnabrück where next to me and my friend. Fortunately the audience was more energetic than the one in Osnabrück the day before, or maybe Hannover has more RABIA SORDA fans. I’m not sure, but I saw more clapping hands than the day before and more people knew the lyrics.

LORD OF THE LOST delivered a perfect rock show once again. That day I really fell in love with the voice of Chris Harms. I mean really. I have a list of people, who I’d like to stand beside my bed and just sing and I added him to this list. Maybe this is a weird compliment, but it’s just the truth – he has a wonderful voice. Once again happy fans surrounded me. Maybe because it was Friday and people were into that weekend mood, the people there were more energetic, more singing along, more powerful and less wanting the band to get undressed. I left Hannover with the thought I had the day before “ If there’s a perfect rock show on this planet, then this was one.”

To compare both shows: Both bands played the same setlist, there’s nothing to moan about. Ok, maybe the light a bit. As I’m a really tall girl I got sometimes really blinded by the light, but as most of the people in the crowd where less tall, they didn’t get blinded, so it was all ok in general. I really have to say that the people in Hannover where more energetic, more awake, more powerful than the audience was in Osnabrück. So my personal applause goes out to the audience in Hannover for waking me up from being tired by driving. Thank you to both audiences, to RABIA SORDA and LORD OF THE LOST for two unforgettable days. I’ll definitely go and see both bands again cause they both really rock!
