The Neon Judgement

Founded in Leuven in 1980, Dirk Da Davo and TB Frank have returned to their home base at Het Depot, a former movie theatre / television studio refurbished into a concert hall a couple of years ago. And at the same time they presented their new CD ‘Smack’, filling the 10-year gap since the previous album. (Pics of the show also at http://www.drieduizend.be/)

Music & Performance

A bit as expected the stage setup was quite barren with the synth battery and Dirk Da Davo on the left- and TB Frank with guitar on the right-hand-side, filling the background with a video screen surrounded by a LED curtain showing the same image of the video screen but due to its low resolution it gave a image-stretching effect that gave a good result for the equipment used.

But on with the show… opening with the title track of the new album 'Smack', most of the album was covered in the first 6 tracks starting a block of older material with 'Nion', 'Fashion Party', 'Chinese Black' and more of the so-called “classics”. With the rest of the gig going on without much surprises and special acts it was a wait until the final encore where Dirk Da Davo stepped away from the synths and joined TB Frank on guitar for a “one point zero” version of 'The Great Consumer', a re-take from a song brought earlier in the set - also from the new album.
