Backstage, Munich, Germany
19th November 2009
Mesh, Informatik, Janosch Moldau

MESH are back with a new label (Dependent and Metropolis Records), a new album ‘A Perfect Solution’ which appeared in autumn and following tour through Germany and the adjoining countries. On 19th November, the boys of MESH came again for a concert to the south of Germany and we enjoyed a fine show.

Janosch Moldau

JANOSCH MOLDAU is a German singer and songwriter from Ulm / Danube. He’s influenced by such artists as Martin Gore (DEPECHE MODE), Johnny Cash, BJÖRK and Hildegard Knef. His latest album ‘Motel Songs’ contains rather quiet songs and ballads again which he likes more than quick pop songs. http://www.myspace.com/janoschmoldau

Music & Performance
As the first artist we could enjoy JANOSCH MOLDAU on this evening. Optically and from the movements he strongly reminded of Martin Gore, nevertheless, he has quite his own musical style which consists predominantly of ballads. It was a pity that only a few listeners were present at Backstage who stayed in the rear area of the hall and in front of the stage everything was empty. Munich people just need a little bit longer… Still it was a nice, soulful appearance which came, already after half an hour to an end unfortunately.

Informatik

INFORMATIK is an electro-industrial-future-pop band which was founded in the 90th in Boston. The band members Da5id Din and Tyler Newman live in San Francisco. Their newest album appeared in 2009 and is called ‘Arena’. http://nymphomatik.com/ / http://www.myspace.com/informatik

Music & Performance
After a short rebuilding break, the duet INFORMATIK was next on stage and now there were already more listeners who also dared to move forward towards the stage and fill up the room in front. Already after a few songs INFORMATIK, was able to control the audience who was clapping and dancing and the mood reached a climax for the first time in this evening. Probably nobody could resist the sound for sure! Unfortunately, this appearance also was over too fast and the band left the stage under applause.

Mesh

MESH is a Synth-pop band from Bristol founded in 1992. Their songs reminds a little of the sound of DEPECHE MODE and distinguishes itself by catchy melodies, minimalist synth sounds and emotional lyrics. This year, their tenth album ‘A Perfect Solution’ was released through Dependent Records. MESH is Mark Hockings (vocals, guitar), Richard Silverthorn (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), Sean Suleman (live drums) and Geoff Pinckney (keyboards, backing vocals). http://www.mesh.co.uk/ / http://www.myspace.com/mesh_a_perfect_solution

Music & Performance
Then, finally, around 10.30PM, it was time and MESH entered the stage. From the very stard they had the audience in their hands and they were not holding back any more, just as the eager listeners. During their show, they played all hits of the older and younger albums, as for example ‘Petrified’, ‘Trust You’ or ‘Friends like These’ as well as many songs out off their new release. In comparison to their last appearance in Munich in 2006 they have become riper and more creative. During the additions when ‘Friends like These’ was played, we could see pictures which were done from the visitors at the beginning of the concert at the entrance on the monitors which were installed on stage. A really nice idea! After a little bit more than two hours, their appearance also came to an end and happy visitors left the hall.
