DS “Megasport” na Hodynskom Pole, Moscow, Russia
13th September 2010
Ozzy Osbourne

Simple but unforgettable are the best words to describe OZZY OSBOURNE’s show in Moscow. The talented person doesn’t need any astonishing special effects, complicated scenery or tricks in the best traditions of Houdini and all these in spite of his venerable age when it’s time for something pompous and bombastic.

Tickets to the concert had been taken almost immediately after the first previews of the event so no wonder that on the 13th of September there were a lot of people bustling about and asking for a spare ticket. But everything was in vain. That evening, DC “Megasport” was absolutely overcrowded: Ozzy’s shows like concerts of other “metal granddads” are usually attended by whole families trying to occupy the first rows. However those who took seats on the balcony and on the central stands could enjoy indeed a splendid sound but the view wasn’t too good as there were no screens. As for the light sometimes it even blinded the first row with the intent pressure of projectors. Well, the time of waiting flew by and finally Ozzy accompanied by Gus G. (guitars), Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (bass), Adam Wakeman (keyboards) and Tommy Clufetos (drums) appeared before the fans. http://www.ozzy.com/ / http://www.myspace.com/ozzyosbourne

Music & Performance
The concert opened with swift ‘Bark at the Moon’ which smoothly flowed into the newest thing ‘Let Me Hear You Scream’. But there is some inaccuracy here: all the posters carried screaming titles like “tour in the support of the new album” yet in fact there was performed the only track off the new release when many people waited for a full presentation of the album or at least wanted to hear 3 - 4 new songs. Anyway the fans weren’t disappointed because the masterpieces like ‘Shot in the Dark’ followed one another. During the beginning of ‘Mr. Crowley’, Ozzy decided to play a little with the crowd and gave a false start. The clear-cut, professional performance of old well-known things just proved once again that the artist has a great voice and the ability to demonstrate it so it doesn’t matter that in the compositions like ‘War Pigs’ he bugled a bit because in general the singing was wonderful. Sportily spilling water from buckets with his name on them Ozzy warmed up the audience already with a usual set of phrases like “are you f***ing crazy?? You ARE crazy people! Crazy!” The years of “bat-eating” have passed and now a bucket of water is enough to set any venue on fire.

Well, not only the buckets were the centre of attention that evening: after nine songs, Ozzy decided to take a short time-out during which Gus G. and Tommy Clufetos played a solo. The former blew up the venue with loaded ‘Kalinka’ and after performed a small improvisation. The drum solo also impressed the audience. And after the break Ozzy was rushing by the set list “off the rails on a crazy train” which was the last track of the main part of the concert. Besides he also sang five tunes of BLACK SABBATH and then there came a time for encores. The first encore started with ballad ‘Mama I Am Coming Home’ and the bewitched crowd exploded with applause when Ozzy fell to his knees at the end of the composition. After the second song ‘Paranoid’ the audience realized that Ozzy just should not leave the stage and demanded “one more song!” The same happened after the next encore but this time the artist began moving slowly towards the backstage while there played outro ‘I Love You All’. So the show was over, but the people didn’t want to go and hoped that “the Great and Terrible” would come back. And he definitely will someday!
