Interview with

Lemmy Kilmister (vocalist, bassist) Motörhead

The band who inspired bands like Metallica, Alice in Cains with their metal sound, altough Lemmy still calls it rock and roll. Their last release is 'Motörizer' (2008) their 20th album since their beginning in 1975.

The rain is falling down on the Sweden Rock Festival, but Lemmy and co. are in the press tent willing to do a great interview and have some fun.

press: Did you guys start re-recording your songs as planned?
Lemmy: Yes, we have. We recorded 8 songs for Guitar Hero and Rock Band, mostly because we got paid for it. Why else would we go and re-record all our albums?

press: Lemmy, you were on stage with Dee at the Twisted Sister show yesterday. Any chance Dee will join you for a song tonight?
Lemmy: No, they left the festival already, they play somewhere else.

press: When you wake up in the morning, what’s your first thought?
Lemmy: I guess it’d be something like ‘Did I die in my sleep ...’ or ‘Who’s that Asian chick next to me.’ (laughs)

press
: You wrote a couple of lyrics for other bands. How does it feel when those songs become more popular than your own Motörhead songs?
Lemmy
: Well, I don’t really think about that, I got paid for it anyway.

press
: How does it feel to be a rock star at age 60?
Lemmy: I don’t like rock stars, they’re fucking boring. I’m just a bass player and singer.

press: You’re friends with The Ramones, how long do you go back and have you ever played with them?
Mikkey Dee (drums): We’ve known them since 1976.
Lemmy Kilmister: We befriended them when the guys first played in the UK. Sadly we just played one single show in Argentinia with them. 2001 Joey died of lymphatic cancer after a long struggle. He didn’t deserve that, he was a diamond under all the musicians.

press: Can we expect anything exciting or surprising from you tonight?
Lemmy: Surprises? If I was going to tell you it wouldn’t be a fucking surprise anymore!
Philip „Wizzo“ Campbell (guitars): Expect the unexpected!!
Mikkey Dee (drums): It will just stop to rain when we play. It always stops raining. Uhm ... I shouldn’t have said that, right? It’s raining pretty hard right now ...

press:Lemmy, if you were a flower, what kind of flower would it be?
(Laughter)
Lemmy: What? A flower? Probably something that devours meat ... We’re the band that eats flies on stage.
Philip „Wizzo“ Campbell: I think I’d be a cactus. And now I’ll go and punch some of the crew, such a stupid question could only have come from them.

press: This is not the first time for you to play at Sweden Rock, why are here quite often?
Lemmy: Well, because of the money the give us - and that’s not even funny. As a band we really need the money to get here.

press: Will you play “Born to raise hell” tonight?
Mikkey Dee: Nope, we kicked that one out of the set list in South America.

press: Lemmy, you did this song with Doro, “Love me forever”. How does that fit?
Lemmy: DORO is really fast when it comes to stage acting and that’s why it’s quite fitting. Also she’s a very nice person.

press: Brian Robertson was your guitarist once, are you still in touch?
Lemmy: He’s an ace as a guitar player, but as a person he’s an idiot.
Mikkey Dee: I agree with Lemmy, but to Brian’s defense I must say, I recently met him and he’s really shaped up and I think he stopped drinking.
Lemmy: What? I didn’t kow that. Shit, he’s trying to quit drinking ... hope he’ll get back in shape at all

press: Do you still have dreams?
Lemmy: Dreams? Yes, quite some ...
Mikkey Dee: I don’t think his dreams are related to music...
