Album Review

After the band decided to reform in 2009, they have released their 3rd studio album. However, this had a title track of 77 minutes long, for which they embarked on a supporting tour. There's no doubt that they definitely have stamina, to be able to continually write a song and perform a song and not forget where you've been or are going is fantastic. Their latest release 'More Never Is Enough' is another stamina compacted release. Including 3 disks and 2 DVDs of live shows, to say this is ONE release from a band is ridiculous. They are certainly not like anyone we have around. The first thing I noticed on the record was the track 'All Of The Above'. Lasting a mere 32 minutes, by the band's standards, it waves from different lyrical lines, to different keyboard riffs, but they all surface again showing that there was definitely thought and musical ability put into creating such mammoth pieces of work. Vocal lines are few and far between in relation to the electric and acoustic guitar parts, but when they do come in they bring a whole new atmosphere because they tend to slow the pace down.

They include joke lines, and talking points, for which breaks the track up. I was surprised when the whole band embarked on a vocal harmony section toward then end of the track. This provided 'All Of The Above' with their breakdown, which followed a face-melting guitar solo. How they were not too tired after facing this, I will never know. 'Whirlwind' is a very experimental track, reigning in their real ability and WHY you came back. There is a keyboard solo so complex it reminded me of some of the music in a Final Fantasy video game, there is also a sinister feeling break down with an old sounding keyboard, vocals that echo the band's influences of symphonic 70's rock, and bringing in a string section to illuminate the change in section and feel. A fantastic masterpiece of music. The rest of the tracks and scenes on this album provide us with respect for some amazing musicians, which, in this day and age, would be enough to love them for what they do; to love them for their passion; but they provide us with never ending riffs, melodic changes, intense vocal ranges and a fantastic atmosphere. Something to be extremely proud of reforming. for all those wishing to re-live or experience the mind-blowing live action from these guys, buy it!
