Album Review

PRONG’s career spans 26 years, which had seen their sound reaching such territories from Groove Metal and Hardcore to Industrial, but foremostly their main sound roots from Thrash. Over the years the band from the noisy California has managed to be considered one of the “heavy” names of Metal. And yet, during the last period of time the band got into some peculiar paths, in musical terms speaking, that managed to pigeon-hole the soundscapes in which the band moved.

‘Carved Into Stone’ seems to have rebooted them and it’s done in a terrific and explosive way. ‘Eternal Heat’ taps into hardcore, lashes out riffs with an unstoppable energy. From here the album proceeds like marching battalions. ‘State Of Rebellion’ ushers in some good ambience for the goose flesh effect whilst ‘Revenge... Best Served Cold’ touches on the industrial vein they tapped into in the past, whilst the ‘List Of Grievances’ will fuel enthusiasm of any thrash metal fan, to name just three songs. The power this CD rests on the fact that there aren’t any fillers, moreover, there exists a real zest to create something memorable not only for the ears of the fans of the band alone but of Metal in general.

PRONG has delivered an album to prove not only their staying power, but also the power to re-invent themselves, to pour inside tremendous amounts of freshness and energy that will push the fans into an endless head-banging.
