Album Review

TENACIOUS D is a creation of Jack Black and Kyle Gass. Well known from the screen, their project has seen television series, they supported other rock acts and their brand of music has been labelled as “mock rock”. ‘Rize of the Fenix’ is their third album where they exercise their humour together with some other musicians on the line-up. It certainly offers a lot of fun interlaced with cinematic touches evoked not only by voice samples but by Black’s (expected) theatricality and some references to famous film’s OST. There’s nothing unexpected musically, quite a solid performance, ultimately it’s an album to have for some silly entertainment value. You can enjoy how they make fun of everything, but even music at times, best examples of the latter would be ‘The Ballad Of Hollywood Jack And The Rage Kage’, ‘Throw Down’ and ‘39’. Good Rock and entertainment - great for some evenings when you just want to let your hair down and chill the hell out and not take anything so damn serious!
