Album Review

Two years after the rather disappointing ‘Wonderlustre’ album, SKUNK ANANSIE are back with a new album titled ‘Black Traffic’. Like all the previous  SKUNK ANANSIE albums, we have a combination of aggressive rock tracks with sad/ depressive tracks. When I first listened to the album I was surprised by the first song (‘I will break you’) because it's a very aggressive track with hard guitars and a little bit different vocals from what we are used from Skin. Also the second and third track, which are ‘Sad Sad Sad’ and ‘Spit You Out’, are almost in the same style with the opening track and that shows lack of inspiration.

Then there is greater variety of sounds but again we do not hear something different from the cognitive style of the group. The production of the album is good and emphasizes Skin's vocals something which is normal because Skin's voice is one of the strong points of the band. In general I don't think this album will bring new fans to the band and the loyal fans of the band will not find something new in their sound of their favourite band. It's not a bad album, and certainly the first hearing will be pleasant but if you want to hear SKUNK ANANSIE for sure you will put on your CD player their first albums and not ‘Black Traffic’.
