Album Review

"I am interested in creating only heartfelt music. It can be either hauntingly beautiful or ragingly powerful — sometimes both —, but it always has to have this special element that will make it more than just a song…"
-Mauno Meesit about SININE and his way of composing songs-

I can’t believe that ‘Butterflies’, the last album of SININE, was three years ago due to the fact, that it’s still finding its way into my CD-player VERY often… But now, three years later, SININE’s ‘Dreams Come True’, their second album, was released on Accession Records. The “Newcomer Of The Year” on Estonian Music Awards 2009 and support for bands such as THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE, DIORAMA and DIARY OF DREAMS offers 11 new songs to the audience with an overall length of almost 38 minutes. Well, that’s the only point of critique! It’s way (!!!!!) too short!

Apart from that, SININE’s album ‘Dreams come true’ is a wonderful release that is one-of-a-kind! Mauno Meesit obviously is capable of creating a very own sound, a distinctive way of composing songs. I was pretty sceptical whether ‘Dreams Come True’ would maintain that high level quality ‘Butterflies_ set as a benchmark in 2009. But… from the very beginning this release put me under its spell! The diversity and variety of the songs is quite awesome. There’s no song that could be set apart! All of them are quite tremendous! What prevailed on the first album now continues. The thing is that the sound of SININE is beyond comparison. I often listen to bands that were presented just like: “the sound like…”

SININE is unique and enravish me to proclaim that with this band Accession Records (label of DIARY OF DREAMS) may have evoked the “biggest rival” within their ranks… Since the first rehearsal all my doubts were washed away: SININE succeeded in releasing a worthy successor! It’s the first band that made me listen to their albums consecutively and press the “repeat all” button the whole night through. I’m willing to say that ‘Dreams Come True’ is my personal album of the year (coincidental with DIE KAMMER’s ‘The Seeming And The Real’, of course!)!

Needless to say that you have to buy it immediately!
