Still on the quest to find that unique sound from the past Stefan Poiss has created enough new material for a second album, named 'Below The City' and the opening 'Searching' doesn't waste any time in rushing forward on a taut mechanical foundation that honours every club goers hearts. With a little cool atmosphere thrown in for good measure it offers a great balance of elements. Next up we're hitting the road for 'The Endless Journey' that immediately immerses you in that special kind of cold melancholy that only certain bands are able to generate. 'Network Of Light' was chosen to be the single preceding the album's release, a union made of quirky rock incursions, lovely weightless melodies and a pitched voice that doesn't start to be unnerving in Nano seconds. 'The Street' is an early highlight on the new album. Everything is precisely placed to building a virtual environment wherein you can feel all that is compressed within this wonderful song.
'Survival Instinct' in a way is like a futuristic vision of what jazz could become. Well, at least it fools you into thinking so before the beat starts. The film-noir feeling however remains while Poiss is drawing bleak picture of what society is and is going to become. 'Alien Love' is a genuine ballad where Poiss's vocal talents come out the best. The title track is building up slowly from a simple bass loop and gently stroked acoustic flourishes towards a massive wall of sound that even though it has its clubby moments probably won't ever work in that department since there are too many breaks in it. 'Timeless' is closing up the record with a mid-tempo track, instrumental most of the time with e few vocal experiments. THYX is getting somewhere now. Though I liked the first album already, the sophomore exhibits more strength and cohesion altogether.
