Album Review

Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. This is absolutely about the modern electronic scene – doesn’t matter if hard genres as Industrial or EBM, or lighter styles as synth pop. The crisis of genre started when everyone got the opportunity to mix the sounds on their computers. I just wonder where these people also find courage to call their creativity music and themselves - musicians. THE SAINT PAUL landed somewhere in the middle between the best and the worst, in other words – it is another electronic band with another electronic album. It would be unfair to say that there is absolutely no individuality in this project. However it is very hard to differ it from thousands of other bands.

Musically it is just as poor and as similar to the huge mass of electronic bands. The vocals aren’t any special as well. And even the titles of tracks aren’t surprising: ‘Inside Outside’, ‘Rise And Fall’, ‘Eternity’. The song ‘Last Black Rose’ gives a little hope for some romantic and reminds on the earlier works of STAUBKIND. And electronic strings prove this hope right. The best part of the album is lyrics. They aren’t quite impressive, but at least they aren’t empty, but meaningful and touch some social themes. Unfortunately the project is still a copy of a copy. And the tragedy of the electronic scene today is that the artists don’t necessary want to copy each other, but just some of them have passion for music and just few have the original ideas.
