Album Review

If you didn’t hear anything about REPTILE YOUTH yet, I’m glad to introduce this band to you. The duo appeared back in 2009 in Copenhagen. And Denmark should be proud of its sons, who should be noticed right after Hans Christian Andersen as the coolest citizens. They released already two studio albums, shot six videos and became quite popular in… China. The first album the musicians recorded with the producer of THE CURE David M. Allen. ‘Rivers That Run For A Sea That Is Gone’ is the second studio full length record. Wikipedia says the band is great on stage. In the same article it is said their albums have been criticized because the studio record can’t recreate their live-shows. And you know what? I’d like to discover it. Because if live they are even better than on the record it is definitely worth to see! And if you already know the band, I have no idea, why are you reading this review, instead of enjoying the record already!

REPTILE YOUTH is quite an old fashioned band, if not to say vintage. But please, everybody who has any prejudice about hipsters, I know what you think. But if you enjoy good music – give this band a chance! Like an explosion from the past they create kind of black hole in the time canvas and suck you in. Moreover you easily fall in love with their light melodies and charismatic vocals. The crazy electronic spirals swing you till you stop recognize where is the bottom and where is the skies. But this won’t stop you from listening to these ethereal spherical melodies, which already boiling in your veins. This band is probably one of the best bands which modern indie-scene presented to the world.
