Album Review

South African SEETHER go on doing their thing on the already sixth full length release, entitled 'Isolate and Medicate', released this past July. 'See You At The Bottom' kicks of the show gritty and heavy. As soon as Shaun's vocals come in the mood becomes somewhat unsettling until it all resolves in the angry chorus. A catchy guitar loop leads us right into the next offering 'Same Damn Life', where Shaun excels in going through various ranges of his vocal repertoire. Not to mention that you can't help but starting to not on your chair, in case you're sitting. A canon marks the beginning of 'Words As Weapons', a track that puts little to no emphasis on shallow aggression but rather conveys a sense of disappointment about how things have gone south and the revelation of a person's true character in clear-cut lyrics.

In case of 'My Disaster', despite it exhibiting a deceitful calm, it implants into you a premonition if it exploding in your face, which it kind of does, just on another level and not the way you'd expect. Something you could not really say about 'Suffer It All', which is bridled with aggression, all bundled within one giant amalgamation of galloping rhythm and hate-filled guitar works maimed by distortion. 'Keep The Dogs At Bay, delivers some contrast with a rather typical soft/loud formula. Last but not least 'Save Today' strikes with a neat acoustic orientation in the first third. Personally, I think it was a wise choice to put this one at the bottom of the tracklist. It's like saving the best for last. The track goes through so many mood and shifts styles many times until it all erupts in a grand finale.

The conclusion is crystal: Definitely a must-buy for SEETHER fans and people who'd like to have collection stocked with a new strong record.
