I can hardly remember many times when I happened to fall in love with a release whilst listening to it for the first time without saying. But the debut work by RUHESTÄTTE SCHWARZ got me right away and I've been listening to it and dragging quotes all the day long. RUHESTÄTTE SCHWARZ is a new project by Gary Wagner, frontman of hieratic DANCE OR DIE. Together with Eric Wuestenberg (who also was a member of DANCE OR DIE back in 1993) they presented a symbiosis of classic Darkwave and modern industrial to the audience. The result is beyond any appraisal. ‘Dark Wave Sex Zombies’ contains everything we loved DANCE OR DIE for back in the days. I would even call it a quintessence of the Dark Scene. Elements of 80s gothic rock are mixed with guitar riffs and electric beats. By the way, the ratio is strictly kept - if Gary and Eric would play with it too much, the release would be over metallized.
Lyrics tell us about vampires, undead, escapism - "all we love". The song called ‘Nobody Wants To Dance With Me’ is the one I suggest to use as an official anthem to nowadays actual (un)condition of Gothic subculture. Every song on the album is a hit. There is not a single poor or "pass-through" track. ‘Dark Wave Sex Zombies’ is devoted to "explode" the dancing floors of rare subcultural club (if there are any left). No hesitation - 10 out of 10. This album is "for a full due", especially considering the recent trends and events on Gothic Scene. Pity is that the album was released in the end of 2014 and many heard it when voting for top-2014 was over. And maybe it is even better - let ‘Dark Wave Sex Zombies’ be special in all relation.
