Album Review

Did you get your hands on one of the 777 hand-numbered copies of SOLAR FAKE's single ‘All The Things You Say’? I hope so! Why? Basically, because of two reasons. First, it was a great teaser for the current album ‘Another Manic Episode’, which was released the day before Halloween this year - I know you've been dying to hear it! Second, this strictly limited digipak is a must-have collector's piece for all diehard fans offering you not only the latest single, but also a rocking remix and a relaxing rework of it, which are both interesting, and, in addition, an amazing live acoustic song.

SOLAR FAKE is a melodic electro duo based in Berlin. Singer Sven Friedrich (DREADFUL SHADOWS, ZERAPHINE) and keyboardist André Feller are well known for creating floor filler anthems as well as emotional tunes carried by Sven's incredible voice. The melodic ‘All The Things You Say’ presents a perfect union of both SOLAR FAKE sides, the melancholic and the danceable. It begins calmly with synth sounds that frame and run through the entire piece, then lyrical vocals set in, and slowly also a steady beat joins in. Later on, as the song gets going, there are also driving e-drums and the song turns into a club hit featuring a “supernova” chorus.

The remix by Dark Rockers LORD OF THE LOST is also very successful, adding heavy drums and crushing guitars. This way the song's forceful aspects are even more emphasized. I would enjoy this rocking version even more, if the vocals weren't remixed, but more gritty and prominent – but, I get it, it's a remix after all, and, on the whole, a great one. ROTERSAND's relaxing rework of the title track sounds different as it hypnotizes us with trance tunes that quite fit the vocals. Towards the end of this easygoing version though, there is a future poppy explosion, before it all drifts away in a familiar calm way. Truly interesting, how different atmospheres are created in both versions and one can get back to them listening to whichever suits one's mood. Finally, SOLAR FAKE present a live acoustic version of ‘The Pages’, the closing song we know from their last record ‘Reasons to Kill’. Dirk Riegner on piano and André on acoustic guitar accompany Sven's soulful singing. The fact that it's all live makes it even more beautiful and impressive. This acoustic version is simply to die for!

Concluding I can only say, I really hope that you got one of the 777 copies!
