Album Review

It’s been nearly a year since the band bringing the regular octahedron, in other words, TESSERACT, from the geometric corner of maths into music came out with ‘Polaris’ and now four of its songs see “reimagining” by Aidan O’Brian, their live producer and sound engineer since 2012, in ‘Errai’. Of course the release is giving a piggy back to ‘Polaris Tour Edition’ in 2 CD set. Though a long-time fan of theirs I’ve been disappointed by ‘Polaris’, it seemed heart-lustre, I have to say they do come out better off here as they seem more sincere, stripping them down was worth it, in other words, made them more intimate.

On one hand it’s lovely to hear it and the change of tack but would I go out of my way to buy it? I can understand bands and record labels have to survive these days but the filler releases aren’t my greatest fondness, especially in such a short format, good if you have money to throw about on curiosity but if not, wait - besides some clever-head leaked it on YouTube already. Also it feels as if the band is finding its feet with the return of Dan Tomkins but can they not come back only after they’ve done that?
