Album Review

PRONG is no stranger in the music world; having had their music remixed at times in fact they issued a remixed EP with a selection of various tracks off their major debut ‘Prove You Wrong’. The ending result was acclaim from metal rock to techno fans all around the globe, which just gobbled it up instantly. In recent year’s band like Rev Co., Ministry, White Zombie and Rob Zombie have issued remix albums or EPs, so there is still a small market for these things.

PRONG know how to dish out the beats when creating and expressing themselves musically and have elected to tackle all on their own, their critically acclaimed comeback album ‘Power of the Damager’, the result being a well mixed project. So mixing things up is the band's specialty and it makes them smile with complete pride far and wide. So when it comes down to ‘Power of the Damn MiXXer’ it doesn't actually measure up the standards their other albums were known to create. It could have been trimmed down a bit more with a much stronger handful of remixes and could have been on the levels of ‘Whose Fist is this Anyway?’ but failed to so. The standout remixes are Rob Caggiano’s take on ‘Banishment’, Roman Marisak and Brian Harrah’s remix of ‘Power of the Damager’, what they are calling the crackmix of ‘No Justice’ with DJ Acucrack and Ampledelic’s remix of ‘Changing Ending Trouble Times’.

‘Power of the Damn MiXXer’ will eventually make its way into a fan’s collection for the rest of you, it might be best to start with ‘Power of the Damager’ and work your way up to this album. Fans of White Zombie and Rob Zombie classic work will surely find someplace in their hearts and souls to let this style of music sink deep and expose itself slowly. Doubt it will get very far in the end though…
