EP Review

`Learn and Wait´ is the debut of 24-years-old songwriter TIMO BREKER from Hamburg. Containing all in all five acoustic pieces, this EP scores with the vocalist’s striking voice and tender compositions inviting to a relaxing listening experience. Though the record’s style isn’t anything new, it definitely provides a nice acoustic soundscape resulting in melancholic songs. Thus, `Julia´, `No Man’s Land´, `Love is gone´ and `Good enough´ are restrained ballad-like tracks focusing on the remarkably expressive vocals accompanied with a sparing use of instruments. Considering the young artist’s age, his lyrics are pretty mature and self-reflecting. However, I liked the eponymous and rather mid-tempo song `Learn and Wait´ in particular, as it displays a broadened range and radiates a tranquil-summer-evening-mood. If you feel attracted by artists such as DIRK DARMSTÄDTER, HEATHER NOVA and BOB DYLAN, you will enjoy this album too.
