Introduction

It’s been awhile, since RAMMSTEIN released their last studio album ‘Rosenrot’, 4 years of just relaxing after touring all over the world with their “Völkerball”-tour, writing songs, reorganizing the band and producing the new album. Now they’re back! And Gee! They’re kicking ass! This album also could be described with “chansons d´amour” or “all you need is love” - all of the songs belongs more or less to the topic, RAMMSTEIN chose as the title of their new release. More or less all of the songs belong to love and its (even weird) manners. It’s not only about love between two people, it is also about love towards things or actions. Whether it’s just about being fan of a band or as in worst case: rape… RAMMSTEIN never will miss out a topic, even it’s a terrifying point of view. That’s, what this band can be accounted for all over the years. A closer look to the booklet reflects these impressions. On one hand there’s the baroque/romantic scheme of Rubens, on the other hand there’s the horror and cruelty you can presage…


Detailed Review

01. Rammlied
This song is the perfect beginning of the new album. Without any doubt, RAMMSTEIN created their new band hymn reminding of their song ‘Herzeleid’ combined with ‘Mein Herz brennt’ and parts of ‘Reise, Reise’. A great and powerful song, which I’m looking forward to experiencing on a concert with a crowd of RAMMSTEIN maniacs!

02. Ich tu Dir weh
No surprises at all… these guys are quite obsessed by themes belonging to sexuality it seems. But no one is more capable to show the varied playgrounds of its manner in a very special way. This time, it’s all about Sado-Maso and the scheme of this song is reminding one of RAMMSTEIN’s ultimate shocker ‘Mein Teil’.

03. Waidmanns Heil
Introduced by bugles this one is stamping the ground. It’s a great song pushing forward just like ‘Heirate mich’ did years ago.

04. Haifisch
In my opinion, that’s the most cryptic song of LIFAD. No doubt, it’s about the band itself, but similar to ‘Laichzeit’ it’s not quite sure all the time, what Till Lindemann tried to figure out here. Or maybe it was the godfather Bertolt Brecht and his ‘Dreigroschenoper’ with the great song ‘Mackie Messer’? Nevertheless, ‘Haifisch’ is really winsome. 

05. B*********
Yep, it’s Till Lindemann again. His creation ‘Bückstabüh’ is cryptic as usual, maybe it’s about forbidden things, you will get however. Musically ‘B*********’ is one of the roughest songs on this release. Thumps up!

06. Frühling in Paris
It’s a quite chanson-mannered piece of music with a great melody and even more creative conversion you can listen to. Beside ‘Roter Sand’ this song is the only “ballade” on this album. You will get impressions how lyrical the lead singer of Germany’s greatest export is able to describe feelings of desperation. This one is definitely one of my favourites RAMMSTEIN ever released and reminds me of songs like ‘Seemann’, ‘Eifersucht’ or ‘Ohne Dich’.

07. Wiener Blut
With ‘Wiener Blut’, RAMMSTEIN continue the consequence of handling with very sensible events really happened in the past years. Confronting their audience to cannibalism with ‘Mein Teil’ on ‘Reise, Reise’, now there’s about the Austrian incest case of Josef Fritzl and the unbelievable things happened in Amstetten. A song of anger and brutality… definitely the roughest song on this album and more convulsing as ‘Mein Teil’ did…

08. Pussy
‘Pussy’ is the typical “shocker” at its best with very explicit lyrics and as usual allusive. Here’s a sample: “Too short, too tall/Doesn't matter, one size fits all./Zu groß, zu Klein,/Der Schlagbaum sollte oben sein./Schönes Fräulein, Lust auf mehr?/Blitzkrieg mit dem Fleischgewehr!” The song itself reminds one beyond doubt of their song ‘Moskau’ - one of my favourites from the album ‘Reise, Reise’.

09. Liebe ist für alle da
I’m somehow disappointed by this song, because I supposed this would be the best song due to the fact of giving the album its name. All in all it’s average, nothing more…

10. Mehr
A very winsome song and a great message! Pillorying egoism and unawareness of the needs of other people, ‘Mehr’ is a very political song nowadays - RAMMSTEIN’s answer to the financial crisis as it seems.

11. Roter Sand
The second ballad on LIFAD and a great song! Even if it’s bombastic and pompous, ‘Roter Sand’ pursues a new way in RAMMSTEIN’s songwriting - and it’s originally either.


Conclusion

‘Liebe ist für alle da’ might not be the best album RAMMSTEIN ever released, but it’s a typical album with great songs. This band is going back to their roots bethinking their qualities without being boring. Its consequent development you can see over the years and I’m looking forward to anticipating one of their concerts in 2010…
