Single Review

In 2008, the Swedish duo SADMAN released the debut album entitled with `Cold in the State of Me´ displaying a varied soundscape influenced by big names such as DEPECHE MODE and RADIOHEAD. On 15th January 2010, Lars Fernström and Mattias Räftegård now present the opening single `I Hide´ taken from the upcoming long-player `9th and Last Life´ that will hit the stores in February. Besides the title track, you will also get the song `End Up in a Car´ by purchasing the single.

`I Hide´ begins with dark pulsating synth sounds followed up by the sonorous vocals that strongly reminded me of DAVE GAHAN from DEPECHE MODE. Whilst the verses are rather throttled and minimalistic, the anthemic refrain definitely turns out to be the highlight of this nearly classical and melancholic piece providing timeless aesthetics, a catchy melody and subtle guitar lines that complete the song´s atmosphere in a sophisticated manner. `End Up in a Car´ is introduced by a rhythmic beat and slightly distorted vocals resulting in a bewitching club track-like composition which is much more experimental than `I Hide´. With regard to this promising single I´m pretty curious about the new album.
