Album Review

Legendary American glam metal outfit RATT from San Diego enjoyed commercial success long before the dawn of the style which the musicians had chosen. But a decade later the band lost its popularity making way for other formations. Now, after almost 11 years of silence, RATT is back to hard rock and glam scene with the 7th studio album entitled ‘Infestation’. The band’s music is influenced by AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN, KISS and heavy metal veterans like JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN and it also contains some blues-rock elements.

After 1999 RATT preferred to remain in the shadow due to some reasons including changes in the line-up and creative crisis. All those years the formation rarely made public appearances and it only played concerts from time to time. This suggests that after such prolonged lull and so many shocks the new work should become nearly the album of the year and actually it is reasonable to suppose that. ‘Infestation’ carries a supply of incredible energy of glam and hard rock typical for the 80s but with the modern quality of sound and musicians’ unique experience.

Uncompromising Rock’n’Roll and real drive, tough riffs and blues melodies, recognizable vocals and deep-felt lyrics, all these things in whole produce an unforgettable impression on a listener. In my opinion, this season is the best time for the release: RATT’s music will be a perfect spring soundtrack which is positive but not unsubstantial, classical and fresh at the same time. It’s hard to mark out some certain tracks because you just listen to the album without a pause and the material is apprehended completely. The CD total length of which is a bit over 40 minutes contains 11 interesting compositions that won’t disappoint both devoted fans of the band and new followers of the style. Of course, all those who like good music will definitely be happy to replenish their collections with this record.
