Album Review

I just read some info about SIA FURLER, best known as SIA, only after listening to the CD and was really baffled that ‘We Are Born’ is already her fifth studio album when I thought it must be a debut before. So, this Australian jazz-style pop singer in principle has an impressive discography and cooperated with numerous musicians. Speaking about her latest effort; from the very beginning of the opening piece, it becomes clear that it’s mere mainstream pop and this tag is already enough to make some definite conclusions. Thus, on the album we can find light, unpretentious and rather cheerful music, professional vocals and simple, sincere lyrics. In general it’s just a great combination, which helps to relax or put a listener in a good mood however it depends on the listener.

On the other hand it’s useless to expect something more from the material, because it won’t amaze you with its depth or impressive melodies. But actually the style itself isn’t meant for such stuff. Of course some people will find it interesting for themselves, and I must say the songs which are mostly alike, at least they sound like that for me, are well-done, with an excellent rhythm and the quality of the record is high as well. There is one composition that I liked so far, namely ‘Oh, Father’. The last song seems to be the best one on the whole CD, so after 12 ordinary tracks it was like a breath of fresh air. Anyway, all pop lovers will find ‘We Are Born’ worthy to listen.
