Album Review

“When boys turn into men, they grow up. When STONEMAN grows up, they are ‘Human hater’” as their promo bulletin says! But what exactly STONEMAN do for a living now that they have grown up and wear long trousers? Simple; they are singing déjà-vu polemics against society, about never-ending trite anxieties with the right touch of expected misanthropism, they are using typical anti-Christian behaviour and Satanist symbols and they are posing as the next big step of the Swiss metal scene. The band seems to believe that everyone was born yesterday or believes that everyone has forgotten that not only the von Trapp family (!) but also bands from AZAG-THOTH and CORONER till SAMAEL, HELLHAMMER and of course the CELTIC FROST all came out from Switzerland.

They sound pretty determined for sure; they are capable of terrifying the audiences only by producing avalanches from the St. Moritz or incurable injuries of the lower jaw by an endless yawning. That they are black-metal posers targeting the under-18 group of children of middle-class boredom in the ‘rebel without a cause’ pose is obvious from the last (and bonus track) “No Sweet November”. Theirs is Black Metal for the MTV masses...but nothing truly exciting for the old guard of Black Metal fans. Inviting Wednesday 13 from MURDERDOLLS to co-sing on ‘Zombie zoo’ isn’t enough of a saving line either. Absolutely forgettable album.
